Director: Prof. Vincenzo NASO

Full professor of Energy Systems at the "Sapienza" University of Rome and Director of two University Master Courses (II level) on energy/environment topics and optimum management of energy and hydro resources, and another University Master Course (II level) on International Decentralised Cooperation for development. Head of the PhD Course on "Energy and Environmental Technologies for Sustainable Development". Member of national and international technical-scientific Committees and Expert at the European Commission on energy and environment.
He is Past-President of ISES ITALIA, the Italian Section of the International Solar Energy Society - ISES.  

He is Vice-President of the International Solid Waste Society and Member of a number of national and international Technical Scientific Associations.  

From 1995 to 2005 he was Energy Manager at the "Sapienza" University of Rome and at the General Hospital Policlinico "Umberto I" in Rome as well as Director of the University Service for Energy.

His research activities are related to energy systems, with special attention to systems based on new and renewable energies, energy efficiency and the rational use of energy, and the end uses of energies and resources. The production of drinking water and management of hydro resources, the technological cycle of liquefaction and regasification of natural gas as well as the production, distribution, and handling of hydrogen are new sectors of interest.

He has been and is still in charge of collaboration activities among Universities and SME (Small and Medium Enterprises) at national and international level as regards technological and process innovation, technology transfer, consulting services, planning and management.

He is author and co-author of 180 publications, at national and international level, and four books.


 

Deputy Director: Prof. Stefano GREGO

Born on 4 March 1944 in Rome, he graduated in November 1968 in Agricultural Science at the University of Perugia. In October 1969 he was recruited as researcher at the Institute of Plant Radiobiochemistry and Ecophysiology (IREV) of the National Research Council.
He carried out research work at European and Extra-European Scientific Institutions in various periods of his life. Expert for the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs within Cooperation with the University E. Mondlane of Maputo in Mozambique. Educational Director and Director of the Department of Plant Production at the Faculty of Agricultural Science of the same University. Expert for the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for problems in the agricultural sector of ASEM (ASia-Europe Meetings). Appointed by the Academic Senate of the University "della Tuscia" of Viterbo to coordinate the activities of the Faculty of Agricultural Science of ERASMUS, TEMPUS, and COMETT programmes. Responsible for the SOCRATES-ERASMUS project. University Rector Delegate and Coordinator of the Committee for International Relations of the same University. Coordinator of many bilateral projects with foreign Countries (ISIAO, CIRPS, UNELLEZ, UNIMED, GALILEO, etc.). President of the 3rd Committee of SISS "Biologia del Suolo" (Biology of the Soil). Member and responsible for several MURST (Ministry of University and Scientific Research), CNR (National Research Council), and EU research units. Expert for the evaluation of former IRSA (Institutes for Research and Experimentation in Agriculture), appointed by the Board of Directors of CRA (Council for Research and Experimentation in Agriculture).

He was among the founders of CIRPS; for many years he has represented the University "della Tuscia" within the Executive Board. At present he is the deputy director and coordinator of the office located at Via Grossi.

Since June 2001 he has been deputy pro-rector and full right member of the Academic Senate and Board of Directors of the University "della Tuscia".

He received a Diploma de Honra from the Mozambican Government for the work carried out in favour of Mozambican  cultural progress.  

In December 2003 the University of Agriculture of Bucharest (RO) conferred him an honorary degree for his scientific activity in the agroforestry field.

In October 2004 the University of Clui-Napoca conferred him an honorary degree for the scientific level obtained and his international activity.

In September 2005 he was elected President of the European Society for New Methods in Agricultural Research.

He was one of the founders of the European Desert Net aimed at grouping European and Extra-European researchers involved in desertification processes and is member of the Advisory Board.

He is author and co-author of about 200 publications in national and international journals.
