Formal and computational methods for research and experimentation into the fields of natural and social sciences - MEFORM
Coordinator: Prof. Lucio BIGGIERO
MEFORM promotes the development and the application of most innovative methodologies to the research and experimentation of natural (biology, ecology, engineering, medicine) and social (economics and management, psychology, sociology) sciences.
Objectives
MEFORM will support other CIRPS’ sections and will promote and joint other external projects, in order to apply and develop the following methodologies:
• network analysis, • NK-like (Boolean dynamic networks) simulation models, • FL-like simulation models (fitness landscape), • Agent-based simulation models.
For these methodologies MEFORM can supply, beyond the application, implementation and analysis strictu sensu, even the following activities:
• Theoretical and empirical research, with the corresponding design of data gathering suitable to be analyzed through the formal or computational methodologies, • Training course at various degrees of advancement.
Fields of application
- Energy and environment - Systems biology (proteomics, genomics, metabolomics, etc.) - International trade - International cooperation and development - Group dynamics - Complementary and alternative medicine - Management and strategy of organizations - Policy interventions - New drug design and development - Knowledge and technology transfer
